Having initially won the project through an anonymous design competition, we then had input into the Master-planning of the whole site, as part of a comprehensive team of consultants, the scheme involving circa 900 residential units, as well as employment uses, shops, care home, school and sports facilities.

We then realised the detailed design of the Phase 1 residential parcel, comprising 107 two to four bed units and, in addition to the site layout, the brief also involved the design of a full range of new house types, including a contemporary property at the request of the client.

The layout was designed as a series of connected places of differing character with pedestrian and cycle permeability at the fore. ‘Off-road green routes’ meander throughout, and way-markers and focal buildings give a sense of direction and legibility.
